What is the type of drawing called where preliminary line-work is still visible?

I'm looking for a name which describes a type of drawing style. This style shows the subject drawn with all initial lines and the skeleton of the object still visible. Then the lines of the subject are often darker over the final outlines but all linework and shading are shown. This style seems to be used in technical drawing a lot. Hope that makes sense
